His warm heart and humble personality has surprised many people in a world full of competition and ego.

Ip Ching was born 1936 in Foo Shan, China, the youngest son of the famous Wing Chun Grandmaster Ip Man (The filmstar Burce Lee's Teacher). Most of the famous martial art masters lived in Foo Shan during the time Ip Ching was growing up and at the age of thirteen Ip Ching began Wing Chun training under his fathers guidance. However his training was discontinued when his father moved to Hong Kong to try and find a better life for his family. Ip Man brought his eldest daughter with him to Hong Kong, leaving behind his brother Ip Chun and his other sisters to live with their mother in China.

After Ip Ching graduated high school, he attended College in Canton. After which, in 1962, he moved to Hong Kong and was reunited with his father, once again training in Wing Chun under his fathers direct guidance.

Ip Man's school was at his house and Ip Ching lived with his father. This gave Ip Ching an enormous amount of insight to Wing Chun and his fathers teaching methods. Because of this he assisted his father, training students in the Wing Chun system until 1972 when Ip Man died. The house was passed to Ip Ching where he lives with his family today.

After Ip Man's death, Ip Ching continued teaching Wing Chun part time, and opened a successful manufacturing factory that he ran until 1994 where upon he decided to retire and begin teaching Wing Chun full time once again. Meantimes, Ip Ching always travels abroad with conducting Wing Chun seminars in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States.
